Admissions Recruiting Assistant

- Part-time (10 hours/week), six-month position—beginning as soon as possible

Works directly with Assistant Director of Admissions-Recruiting and/or designated Admissions Counselors to help streamline and organize communication with prospective students; serves as frontline recruiting representative for Principia by making contact with prospective students and parents; plans and executes timely and appropriate follow-up with prospective students and families. Middle School Swimming Coach/Upper School Assistant Swimming Coach

- Part-time, seasonal position beginning November 2014

Coach athletes and teach sport-specific skills, while integrating character education. Work with students in Middle School and Upper School to develop team goals and philosophy. Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the School. As a member of the Middle School (grades 6-8) team, teaches mathematics and enrichment classes. Substitute Teachers--Daycare through Upper School

- On-call, part-time opportunities; available immediately

We are looking to hire at least community members to train on our new Cisco Unified Attendant Console System and serve as substitutes for our regular operators; serves as the initial contact for incoming calls. Classroom Faculty: Computer Science

- Full-time, 9-month position beginning as soon as possible

Teaches full load of undergraduate courses in computer science, including introductory, lower-division, and upper-division courses; supports activities of the department and overall academic program; teaches independent courses and oversees internships; maintains regular daytime office hours for academic advising and student support; reviews curriculum, updates existing courses, and develops new courses; works actively with faculty colleagues, in conjunction with the math and natural sciences unit; serves on academic committees; advises computer science majors (after first year); continues professional growth. Classroom Faculty: Economics

- Full-time, 9-month position beginning as soon as possible

Teaches 3-4 economics courses per semester in the following general areas: principles of micro/macroeconomics, intermediate micro/macroeconomics, comparative economic systems, international economics, evolution of economic thought; teaches all courses within the context of Principia's philosophy of a liberal arts education; advises approximately 6-8 economics majors; supports off-campus internship programs and independent study contracts; meets with students for academic advising and assistance; works actively with department members and academic unit, performing assignments and helping with general business and decision making; supports other activities of the department and overall academic program; is an active educator in accord with Principia's mission; metaphysically supports the mission and goals of the institution and its operations. Classroom Faculty: History

- Full-time, 9-month position beginning as soon as possible

Position is focused on non-Western history (e.g. Asia and the Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East) and history research skills. May also include some American history and/or Global Perspectives classes. Typically teaches nine credit hours (normally three courses) per semester and advises history majors. Additional duties include serving on academic committees, advising students in general, ongoing professional development, and scholarly contributions. Works actively with history faculty, performing delegated assignments and helping with general business and decision-making associated with the program and in the humanities unit. Minimum Qualifications: Active Christian Science Mother Church and local branch church membership; Christian Science class instruction preferred (required within two years of hire date); Ph.D. preferred in related field; experience with social science methodology and research methods; expertise in two or more of the following--Africa, Asia and the Pacific, the Middle East, plus substantial knowledge of history and world affairs generally; successful teaching experience, preferably at college level; interdisciplinary outlook and willingness to work with colleagues in different disciplines; willingness to turn readily to God for guidance. Director, Office of Academic Special Programs

- Full-time, 12-month position beginning July 1, 2014, or as soon as possible

Responsible for supporting a variety of multidisciplinary academic programs and championing new academic programs and initiatives. Administers the following academic programs: Abroad Office, Community Service Program, General Education (staffing and scheduling), academic online courses, Public Affairs and Pan African Conferences, and multidisciplinary academic programs. Oversees Sustainability, Metaphysics of Physics, and Leadership Institutes. Serves as liaison with the Euphrates Institute. Manages the process for students who develop special majors. Serves as a unit head-level administrator to those academic programs that do not fall clearly within one of the existing academic units. Coordinates logistics of academic program reviews. Minimum Qualifications: Active Christian Science Mother Church and local branch church membership. Christian Science class instruction preferred (required within two years of hire date). Master's degree required (PhD preferred). Administrative and teaching experience at the college level. Experience assisting students in an educational setting (post-secondary or secondary experience preferred). Experience in higher education assessment and outcomes-based assessment of student learning preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and writing skills. Ability to work effectively with a team as well as independently. Ability to organize and meet deadlines. Writing and Student Support Specialist

- Full-time, nine-month position beginning as soon as possible

Responsible for supporting writing across the curriculum by working with faculty to support writing in courses, conducting faculty workshops, working with individual students on writing needs, and teaching developmental courses related to writing; has primary responsibility for implementing Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) programs/key administrative tasks, including mentoring programs, website updates, student learning communities, student study groups, and assessment tasks; conducts class presentations on writing and develops and teaches college writing and student success courses/programs; assesses writing portfolios; manages/administers the writing-across-the-curriculum program; assesses students' writing abilities and helps develop plans to support their needs; conducts student study sessions and learning communities; helps address academic retention issues; assesses CTL programs.
