Landscape Worker (Heavy)

Performs all aspects of landscape and athletic field maintenance work; uses ladders, lifts, hand tools, and power tools, such as lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and heavy equipment. Teaches 3-4 courses per semester (to classes of 12-20 students each) on subjects that support a general business curriculum, including Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Managerial Finance, Investments, and Discovering Business; is an active character educator in accord with Principia's mission; advises approximately 15-25 business administration majors and is available regularly to meet with students for conferences; metaphysically supports the mission and goals of the institution and its operations. Teaches a full course load (18-21 semester hours/year) in mass communication with an emphasis on visual media (i.e., video production, photo fundamentals, and photo journalism); serves as faculty sponsor for mass communication internships or independent studies involving photography, video, film, or television; serves as faculty resource to mass communication majors fulfilling their practicum requirements in visual areas such as photography for The Pilot (news magazine) or The Sheaf (yearbook); serves as mass communication faculty for students pursuing the special studies film major; participates in the department's development of new curriculum related to social media, online multimedia, and media literacy; provides faculty support for student media activities such as the Principia Film Festival; makes full use of the department's digital video and photography equipment, editing software suites, computer lab, and television studio; advises mass communication majors (second year of employment); serves on academic committees when appropriate; provides vision and direction for College media activities by attending professional conferences and seminars; assists in departmental work, including assessment, program review, and curriculum development. College Store Sales and Cash Associate

- Part-time (20 hours/week), 10-month (43 weeks) position beginning as soon as possible

Performs all cash-related activities concerning the College Store; ensures customers' needs are met, complaints resolved, and quick, efficient, and effective service provided; learns and maintains practical application and understanding of cashiering responsibilities, including but not limited to ATM procedures, petty cash reimbursement, and daily/weekly cash balances; reconciles the College Store's deposits received from cash drawers, the safe, and change kept on hand; receives and processes deposits; provides training and support to staff including students; provides coverage when Store manager is out. Theatrical Designer and Technical Director

- Full-time, 9-month position beginning Fall 2015

Teaches technical theatre courses; collaborates and works in partnership with directors to prepare concepts and create designs for theatre and dance productions, using current industry practices such as Computer Aided Design (CAD); creates scale ground plans, elevations, and construction drawings as well as light plots using current industry practices; stays current with professional industry standards for design, the technical aspects of theatre, and safety practices for scenic and lighting production needs; oversees the execution and installation of scenic, lighting, sound, and property designs for productions; coordinates and runs technical rehearsals, supervises and trains crew and house manager/staff, and supervises strike for each theatre and dance production; manages, schedules, and coordinates use of theatre facilities for classes, rehearsals, performances, and other campus or student events; maintains, inventories, and oversees use of all technical equipment; oversees and maintains technical budget; works with student directors on technical elements for senior-level directing class projects (i.e., one act plays); represents the College at regional and national festivals, meetings, or conferences; assists in departmental work, including assessment, program reviews, development of curriculum, and advising student majors. Writing and Student Support Specialist

- Full-time, nine-month (faculty-ranked) position beginning as soon as possible

Responsible for supporting writing across the curriculum by working with faculty to support writing in courses, conducting faculty workshops, working with individual students on writing needs, and teaching developmental courses related to writing; has primary responsibility for implementing Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) programs/key administrative tasks, including mentoring programs, website updates, student learning communities, student study groups, and assessment tasks; conducts class presentations on writing and develops and teaches college writing and student success courses/programs; assesses writing portfolios; manages/administers the writing-across-the-curriculum program; assesses students' writing abilities and helps develop plans to support their needs; conducts student study sessions and learning communities; helps address academic retention issues; assesses CTL programs.
