“Reaching Further” with spiritually based character education at Principia includes the following activities:
School
-
Curriculum: Director of Teaching and Learning
The Director of Teaching and Learning supports and mentors faculty as they progress in curricular initiatives such as Understanding by Design and differentiated instruction.
-
Curriculum: Increased away-from-campus learning
The School will continue to develop multi-day educational trips for grades 5–12, such as the recently added fifth grade trip to Williamsburg and the Upper School juniors' trip to New England to visit Mrs. Eddy’s homes.
College
-
Curriculum: Graduate programs
The College will explore partnerships with accredited institutions while taking the early steps in developing a Principia-based sustainability, education, or religion master’s degree program.
-
Technology Integration: Distance learning
The College has piloted online courses taught by Christian Science faculty. Later phases for online courses could support Principia students studying at satellite locations. The College is investigating the possibility of offering online degrees that would include one or more segments of on-campus study.
-
Curriculum: Signature courses and programs
The College curriculum now includes a History of the Christian Science Movement course, a Sustainability Center, and a Leadership Institute that offers students training and experience in leadership situations. The College will continue to partner with organizations, such as the Euphrates Institute, in an effort to help students grow in their understanding of international politics, social entrepreneurship, and Mideast issues.
